Giving Them What They Want: What students want from introductory psychology
Most faculty can easily incorporate their favorite studies and topics when teaching introductory psychology. What is more challenging is to know what our students want in such a course. In this session, we’ll discuss these student-based motivations. To help reconcile the divide, the new APA Introductory Psychology Initiative (IPI) offers an innovative and context-dependent approach to course design. We’ll discuss ways to use those guidelines to craft a course that accommodates both student interest and instructor/institutional requirements in introductory psychology courses.
